I would love to know what healing means for You. For some it’s cure and for others its feeling better. Take a small cut for example and watch how over a short period of time it heals. Our bodies are utterly amazing in their ability to heal. For me, I have found that the mind is very powerful to help in the process to get better. I also see in my own life as well as my clients that each of us is unique in this process.
What does healing mean to You? Pain can be on a physical level, emotional level and even spiritual level. Where does it touch you? Every day may differ just like the weather. I have healed from a troubled childhood. I have healed from loosing my mother in my teens. I have healed from a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. This may have you think – is she “cured”? I hope you went there really I do so I can share with you my feelings about it.
I personally don’t use the word “cure” it may be a slippery slope. And for the most part I have healed my fear and am symptom as well as medication free. My process is constant but my diagnosis is not my priority anymore. What is important to me is the healing of my entire being as well as helping others. Finding balance and putting out the weeds that hold me back from seeing the goodness. And learning who I am beyond any definition. I have found by forgiving myself and others amazing in my healing and feeling whole.
Ok, Hillary you may be thinking where are you going with this. I will share with you one of the best gifts I have gotten. It is the teachings of yoga – the philosophy. Since 1996 I have been practicing the physical part of yoga. And throughout this time I was introduced to the teachings within this rich fabric of yogic traditions. My teachers opened me to see that I was not crazy for seeing the “bad” in a new “light”. What lit me up was remembering that as a child I always sought out the “good” in any bad situation. This was/is part of my healing process.
By embracing anything that seems to be bad we begin to heal. In this time of quiet we are able to take steps to become empowered and discover our path to recognizing our wholeness. Over time we can find that ultimately we are always growing in this evolution to become more of ourselves.
This teaching shifted my views and took me to deeper levels of accepting what I could not understand. Letting go of my control and knowing no matter what I do in some way there are no guarantees. This one was tough to deal with but it is not about giving up just the opposite. Even just writing it brings me to a pause to reflect.
What has helped me shift my world was to step into this unknown fully as myself. Getting involved with my healing and seeing it as a co-participation with all that showed up expanded what was possible.
Friends, healers, doctors, coaches, and teachers offered me new way to heal. This process is an invitation to discovery. This process is an invitation to come back to who you always were. This process is to define what healing is for you and know that you are never alone.
